The stories that matter on money and politics in the race for the White House
Following Joe Biden’s departure from the 2024 presidential race, vice-president Kamala Harris is now the presumptive nominee, and attention this week is focused on who she will pick as her running mate.
Many expect Harris to choose someone from one of the key battleground states. Much of the speculation has so far focused on Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona senator Mark Kelly. Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, would also be a popular choice among some in the party.
Harris will begin a US tour with her new running mate next week, meaning she will probably announce her choice in the next few days.
