Rahul Gandhi moves SC against court summons over Savarkar remark

NEW DELHI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has moved SC challenging summons issued to him by a trial court in UP in the VD Savarkar defamation case filed against him.
A bench headed by Justices Dipankar Datta and Manmohan is likely to hear Rahul’s plea against summons issued to him. Rahul, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, had moved Supreme Court after his plea was rejected by Allahabad high court on April 4.
“The impugned proceedings are clearly frivolous, vexatious and designed to inflict criminal process as a virtual punishment and a deterrent for free exercise of his freedoms and from freely performing his duty as a responsible opposition leader at national level,” the petition said.
